Chinese business leaders visit the University of Essex

University of EssexLast week the University of Essex welcomed business and technology leaders from China as part of a special visit co-ordinated by Essex International, Essex County Council’s (ECC) international trade team.

The delegation, which included business leaders and officials from face recognition company Wow Face and research institutes specialising in industrial technology, robotics and advanced laser technology, were given a tour of the University of Essex’s state-of-the-art facilities.

Furthering education links with China

University of Essex meeting with Chinese business leadersThis latest visit builds upon the education and business links made on previous visits to China by Professor Forster, Vice-Chancellor at the University of Essex. The visits, arranged with assistance from Essex International, included meetings with major Chinese businesses and universities in Jiangsu Province the area with which ECC has a longstanding partnership going back almost 30 years.

Globally recognised expertise offering business opportunities

University of Essex The University of Essex has specialisms in science and technology, engineering and the emerging fields of data analytics and works with companies to provide solutions to a specific strategic issue. It has also delivered targeted training including a bespoke course for Chinese-based state-owned businesses.

The delegation were shown the University of Essex’s state-of-the-art facilities at the Colchester Campus including the Bloomberg trading floor in the award-winning Essex Business School, research laboratories in the School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering and Parkside Office Village on the Knowledge Gateway research and technology park.

Encouraging investment into the region

Essex International at University of EssexEssex International manages the long standing East of England-Jiangsu partnership on behalf of Essex, Norfolk and Suffolk County Councils, helping businesses, schools, universities, vocational colleges, museums, cities and regions develop profitable partnerships. This has increased exports to China and attracted inward investment to the East of England.
