Essex based medical device company opens factory in China

VitalCare factory in Jiangsu ProvinceVitalCare, an Essex based medical device company, has set up a 34,000 sq ft factory in China with support from Essex International, Essex County Council’s International Trade Team. They have recently opened a manufacturing facility in China with state-of-the-art machinery which will enable them to continue to develop their offer to the medical industry and drive growth into their business.

Why they expanded to China

VitalCare already have a 10 year pedigree in the medical devices market working as a distributor of Chinese medical products.  Developing their own facility has allowed them to take a step into their own production.

The new factory is based within an economic development zone that has successfully attracted medical companies with the aim of creating a progressive environment for high end manufacturers.

Their understanding of the UK customer market for these products has enabled them to drive quality product development into their China production to keep and attract new customers.

They have already seen a growth in business since the factory opened earlier this year.

“Our customers can take advantage of the low overheads and extensive manufacturing facilities in China. We reduce the risk by controlling operations on the spot. Customers can incorporate those products in their own range, confident that they can offer competitive prices while maintaining the quality that is essential to meet the requirements of a highly regulated healthcare industry.”

Working with Essex International

VitalCare’s existing supplier base is based in Jiangsu Province. Essex International was able to provide the necessary resources and connections in Jiangsu enabling VitalCare to quickly navigate the steps needed to set up production.

VitalCare were able to access important incentives reserved for wholly-foreign owned enterprises (WFOE) setting up in China.  This, in addition to the excellent incentives offered by the local zones and the preferential treatment owing to established relationships with EI the ECC, proved to be essential to the successful outcome of VitalCare’s expansion programme.
