Felsted School, ranked as one of the Top 30 Independent International Baccalaureate Schools, featured in Tatler Top Schools Guide and a recipient of numerous Good Schools Guide awards, has been working with Essex International to further its international links.
Essex International helps companies and organisations enter the Chinese market through their unique access afforded by an exclusive 26-year relationship with Jiangsu province in China. They are able to obtain local market knowledge, set up targeted face-to-face meetings and communicate with organisations on clients behalf, using their expert knowledge, network of contacts and relationships with government and business officials in China.
How Essex International helped Felsted School extend its international presence
One of only 12 schools in the UK to belong to the Round Square Organisation of schools - whose aim is to, “inspire new levels of international co-operation, communication and understanding” - Felsted School were keen to develop their connections with China.
Essex International was invited to give a talk to Felsted students on doing ‘Business in China’. Having raised the opportunities of a Chinese market, Felsted School followed this up by meeting with Essex International to discuss possible opportunities in China. Felsted School’s initial interest centred around student recruitment for their International Summer School. This soon progressed to discussing other potential business opportunities including teaching ‘A’ levels and the International Baccalaureate in China, as well as arranging student exchange visits to the UK.
Essex International used their expert knowledge and network of contacts in Jiangsu to identify a range of schools that would be a potential academic match. This project included 2 days free research by Essex International which involved interviewing middle schools, agents and Department of Education representatives in China.
The benefits Essex International brought
Understanding the strict educational requirements that exist when UK and Chinese schools are looking to partner, Essex International researched the potential market and suggested the right school in China. Essex International was then able to work with both Felsted School and their suggested Chinese school to facilitate a partnership between the two schools focussed on:
• Entering the Chinese market
• Getting a feel for liaising/working with China
• Start making connections the school could leverage (at a later stage)
• Recruitment opportunities
This resulted in a formal agreement being signed between Felsted School and a school in Jiangsu province. Essex International is now assisting that school with visas, deposits and travel arrangements.
“We plan to use the relationship established by the newly signed agreement to provide beneficial opportunities for our students and for the students of our sister school in China. Essex International was able to quickly and efficiently identify the right school and set up the agreement for us”.
