Promoting opportunities to UK companies to meet China’s elderly healthcare needs

Elderly healthcare company round table discussionEssex recently hosted a delegation of healthcare professionals from China looking for examples of best practice in elderly healthcare from UK healthcare providers.

The visit, organised by Essex International (EI), gave delegates a tour of elderly care provision, including a BUPA elderly care home. Delegates, including the Deputy Secretary General of Changzhou Municipal Government, the Vice Director of Changzhou Municipal Health and investment companies from Changzhou also met with UK elderly care companies looking to expand into the Chinese market.

"Through the visits to the two care homes and the in-depth discussion, we have got a lot of detailed information regarding the elderly care sector in UK. These are all very good practices that Changzhou needs to learn from."
Mr Li Xin, Deputy Secretary General, Changzhou Municipal People’s Government

Chinese health practitioners looking to the NHS

With its fast economic and social development and increase in standards of living China is becoming an aging society at an unprecedented rate. This is putting pressure on healthcare services in China.

The Chinese government is therefore looking to the UK’s NHS for best practice in elderly healthcare. It aims to…

  • Build and upgrade the provision of medical care facilities/services at care homes
  • Introduce community based healthcare services for the elderly
  • Establish specialised hospitals for the elderly such as rehabilitation hospitals
  • Encourage contracted service between hospitals and care homes
"We will share the information with relevant elderly care authorities and organizations in Changzhou and identify opportunities of co-operation with Essex in the elderly care area."
Mr Li Xin, Deputy Secretary General, Changzhou Municipal People’s Government

Bringing opportunities from China to UK companies

Elderly healthcare company round table discussionBuilding on its unique links with Jiangsu, going back almost 30 years, Essex International (EI) has developed a close link with Jiangsu Provincial Health and Family Planning Commission to explore opportunities of collaboration in healthcare between Essex and Chinese organisations and businesses.  Jiangsu Health Commission is the governmental authority in Jiangsu Province looking after the health of a population of 80million.

Essex International are not only able to help guide China in its healthcare reform by introducing healthcare professionals in Essex but can help UK businesses meet potential buyers and facilitate discussions leading to business deals.
