Felsted School

Essex International has been working with Felsted School to further its international links
Felsted School playing fieldFelsted School, ranked as one of the Top 30 Independent International Baccalaureate Schools, featured in Tatler Top Schools Guide and a recipient of numerous Good Schools Guide awards, has been working with Essex International to further its international links.
Essex International used their expert knowledge and network of contacts in China to facilitate a partnership agreement between Felsted School and a high school in Jiangsu Province. The agreement between the schools will assist with the sharing of information and exchange visits for students and teachers.

How Essex International helped Felsted School extend its international presence

Felsted School were keen to develop their connections with China. Their initial interest centred around student recruitment for their International Summer School. This soon progressed to discussing other potential business opportunities including teaching ‘A’ levels and the International Baccalaureate in China, as well as arranging student exchange visits to the UK.

The benefits Essex International brought

Understanding the strict educational requirements that exist when UK and Chinese schools are looking to partner, Essex International researched the potential market and suggested the right school in China. Essex International was then able to work with both Felsted School and their suggested Chinese school to facilitate a partnership between the two schools focussed on:

  • Entering the Chinese market
  • Getting a feel for liaising/working with China
  • Making connections the school could leverage (at a later stage)
  • Recruitment opportunities

The results

Felsted School signs partnership agreement with high school in Jiangsu Province, China

A formal agreement was signed between Felsted School & a high school in Jiangsu Province. Essex International has assisted the school with visas, deposits and travel arrangements.

“We plan to use the relationship established by the newly signed agreement to provide beneficial opportunities for our students and for the students of our sister school in China. Essex International was able to quickly and efficiently identify the right school and set up the agreement for us”.
Daniel Emmerson, Director of Holiday Programmes and Events at Felsted School

Future plans

The partnership between the two schools will further extend the county’s Essex-China links. Further modes of co-operation are currently being considered to bring the best value to the students of both schools.

“This agreement between the schools in Essex and China is a visible benefit of the long-standing partnership that Essex County Council has developed with Jiangsu.
It is increasingly clear how it contributes to economic growth in the county, as well as enriching people’s lives, through educational opportunities in our schools as much as business trade.”
Councillor Kevin Bentley, Essex County Council Cabinet Member for Economic Growth and Infrastructure
